Letters, 1898, 1906.

The collection consists of typescript and electrostatic copies of ten letters primarily written by Archie Templeton to his wife and daughter while he was traveling to, and in, Alaska (February-June 1898). They were written from St. Paul, Seattle, Valdez, Tazlina Lake, and the Klutina River. The last letter was written by Frank Hines in 1906 in Mastodon, Alaska. It was sent to Annie Templeton of Milbank, South Dakota.

Archie Templeton was a resident of Milbank, South Dakota. He traveled to Alaska in 1898 with a group of men from that city. The party took the train from St. Paul, Minnesota, to Seattle, Washington, and then sailed on the S.S. Valencia to Valdez, Alaska. From the description of Letters, 1898, 1906.
